Accurate measurement is needed for a wedding dress, so we suggest you let a professional seamstress do their job. If you cannot get a professional seamstress to take your measurements you should follow this guide to ensure proper fit.

Note that;

1. Do not carry out your measurement yourself as this will provide you with inaccurate values, ensure you have someone to take the measurement for you.

2. Wedding dresses have their different sizes than other clothing. It is very essential to make use of a guide in addition with a size chart to assist you in determining your size in order to save time and money.

3. It is advisable to take your measurement in the undergarments you will be wearing with the wedding gown.

4. Ensure to stand upright with your arms relaxed and facing down by your side.

5. Compare the measurement you have taken with a standard size chart as charts shows how measurement are mapped to the designer sizes. The measurement you have taken should have a close relation with the sizes in the chart to determine the ideal size to be ordered. If your measurements indicate the same size for the ‘waist’ and different sizes for the ‘bust’, it is advisable to order according to the largest measurement.

To accurately get a detailed information, take the following measurements;

Bust: This is not the size of the bra! The tape should be taken around your back and brought across your nipple line, with your arms relaxed down at your sides.

Waist: This is about an inch above your belly button. The tape should be put around it to take the measurement.

Hip: Place the tape around your hips and take note of how far from your waist is measured.

Shoulder to Shoulder: This is the width of your shoulder. Place the tape at one end of the shoulder while extending it to the other end to take the measurement. It is only needed for dresses with sleeves.

Nipple to Nipple: This is the distance between your two nipples.

Shoulder to Nipple: Place the tape at one end of your shoulder and measure down to your nipple.

Shoulder to Waist: Place the tape at your shoulder and measure down to your waist line. The tape must cut across the bust.

Arm girth: This measurement is entirely subjective and can be done tightly according to how comfortable you are with it. This gives the size of the sleeve hole you are comfortable with.

Bicep girth: This is the measurement around the upper arm.

Waist to Hem (Net Size): Measure from your natural waist to where you want the hem to be. This is the net size.

Full length: This is the length from your shoulder to your feet without putting on shoes. You should stand upright and your feet should keep together.

If it is a special type of bridal dress you have chosen, you need to provide more measurements as follows:

1. wedding dress with cap sleeves

2. wedding dress with short sleeves

3. wedding dress with long sleeves

4. any plus size wedding dress

5. any plus size bridesmaid dress

6. any plus size prom dress
