Water is an essential part of our daily life and the body needs adequate amount of water to sustain. Know about water coolers
Water coolers are appliances which work both on electricity and without electricity to provide cool drinking water. They are fitted with dispenser taps through which the water flows. Water coolers are basically of two styles: bottled water coolers and bottle-less water coolers. They come in various sizes, types and shapes. Bottle-less water coolers are directly fitted to the water supply system whereas bottled water coolers need large purified water bottles which are manually fitted to the water cooler devices.
Types of water coolers
Water coolers or water dispensers come in many shapes and sizes and the various types of water coolers are as follows:
• Wall mounted water coolers also known as water fountains or drinking fountains are connected directly to the water supply system and there is a continuous supply of drinking water. They have a refrigeration and purification system in built and they function through electricity to produce cool and safe drinking water.
• Bottom load water coolers are the most common type of water coolers. In these water coolers the purified bottle of drinking water is placed at the bottom of the dispenser, hence there is no trouble of lifting heavy bottles up.
• Direct piping water coolers are the ones which are connected directly to the water supply system of the building. They have a purifier fitted and also have the options of getting cold and hot water.
• Standalone water units are of various kinds, they can be bottle down stand-alone units where the water bottle is placed on the top of the dispenser upside down or they can be bottom load water coolers or table top water coolers.
• Table top or counter top water dispensers are smaller water coolers in size than normal ones, they can be placed on any table top or on the counter tops and they require very less space. These are space efficient coolers.
Versions of water coolers
In most of the cases the water cooler is fitted with a refrigerator mode which chills the water and cool water flows out of the cooler through dispenser tap, but other than refrigeration mode. Some water coolers are also fitted with heating mode which has heating elements and have different hot water storage compartment in the water cooler. The hot water flows through a hot water dispenser tap which is heat resistant tap and hence any kind of accidental burn is averted which using the tap.
Water purification system
The main aim of water coolers is to provide cool and safe drinking water and hence a number of purification methods are used to filter the water in water coolers. Bottled water bottles do not need extra purification as they are pre-processed packaged waters, bottle-less water coolers uses reverse osmosis, ceramic filters, activated carbons etc. as water purifier.
