The U.S. Army mourns the loss of First Lieutenant Zachary Galli, 23, who died on Saturday, May 11th, in a training accident at Fort Johnson, Louisiana.
It is with an extremely heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of 1st Lt. Zachary Galli," said Col. Brennan Fitzgerald. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of the Galli family, the 749th EOD Company, and the greater EOD community.
First Lieutenant Galli served as a valued member of the 749th Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Company. EOD specialists are highly trained professionals who defuse explosives and protect others from dangerous threats. Lieutenant Galli's dedication to this critical mission exemplifies the courage and selflessness we honor on Memorial Day.
This year, as we remember all those who gave their lives in service to our country, let us also hold First Lieutenant Galli's sacrifice close to our hearts. We can offer our condolences to his family and loved ones by sending a Memorial card to Our Brave Hero.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in First Lieutenant Galli's name to a charity that supports EOD families, such as the EOD Warrior Foundation.

First Lieutenant Zachary Galli's bravery and commitment will never be forgotten.
